Don't be fooled by the dog days of Summer
Radon Gas never takes a Holiday!
Many times, living accommodations change during the summer.
Families often spend more time downstairs in the basement because it is cooler. Radon comes from uranium in the ground and rises through the foundation of homes, affecting lower levels.
Radon levels are lower in the summer than in the winter.
If you test during the summer and the radon level comes back high, this is a powerful indicator that you will need radon mitigation.
Any location may or may not have radon.
Radon abides by no geographical location. While some places have a more significant radon concentration, it is present in every state in the U.S. Radon may show high levels in your home while your neighbor has low or no radon level.
New Homes versus Older Homes.
The age of a home does not tell you whether or not there could be radon. Any home can have radon, built one month ago or 100 years ago. Radon comes up from the soil. Could you check with or talk to your realtor about when the house was last tested for radon?
Exposing yourself to radon is exposing yourself to radiation.
In the long run, breathing in and exposing yourself to radon can lead to cancer. We want to ensure cleaner air when it comes to the quality of air in your home. Please feel free to reach out for a short two-day test if you are interested in testing your home.
Mitigation SystemsHomes with elevated radon levels can usually be mitigated. The most common approach is a fan-assisted ventilation pipe that routes radon from the ground under the basement up through a pipe and out of the roof.
We look forward to meeting your radon testing and mitigation needs!
